Our Story
Our founder was once labelled a 'problem child.' Growing up with ADHD, moving through care homes, and at times facing homelessness, they heard the word 'difficult' more times than they can count. The system saw a problem. What the system missed was a creator. That realisation, that the labels were wrong, that the 'problems' were actually gifts pointing in a different direction, became the foundation of KL Creatives Studios. We opened our doors in King's Lynn because this is a town full of people with stories like our founder's. Talented, energetic, imaginative people who've been told they're 'too much' or 'not enough.' Young people who've slipped through the cracks of education. Adults who never had a creative outlet that felt genuinely safe. We built the studios we wish had existed. Professional recording space. A proper photography and video studio. Podcast facilities that rival commercial setups. A sensory room designed with real care. Arts and craft workshops that don't feel like a school lesson. A hall for community events. A caravan holiday for families who need respite. And we built them here, in our community, for our community. We are a Registered Community Interest Company (CIC No. 17065168), which means every pound we earn, every booking we take, every partnership we form goes back into the work. Not into profit. Into people. This year, we're on track to support 250 people across King's Lynn. Next year, we want to reach more. Come as you are. Leave knowing your worth.
Our Values
What drives every decision we make:
-
Radical welcome — everyone gets a 'yes' here until there's a real reason not to
-
Lived experience first — our team, our mentors, and our model are shaped by people who've been through it
-
Creative excellence — we believe community spaces deserve professional equipment and expert guidance
-
Access for all — pricing, sensory environments, and programme design are built around removing barriers
-
Community accountability — as a CIC, our work is publicly accountable to the people of King's Lynn
