Our Story

In September 2025, an opportunity arrived, as the best ones always do, quietly and with no fanfare. A 2,000 square foot unit became available, and with it came a question that would change everything for the creative community of King's Lynn.

Not "what can we do with this space?" but something far more ambitious: "what is the maximum possible impact we can create here, for the people who need it most?"

We are creatives at heart. So naturally, the first idea was a music recording studio. A proper one. Soundproofed, professional, the kind of space that King's Lynn had never had before. But the more we thought about it, the more we realised that one room could never be enough. If we were going to do this, we were going to do it properly.

That initial spark grew into something far greater than we had imagined. We mapped out five purpose built studios across the full footprint of the space, each one designed to serve a different creative need, but all of them connected by the same purpose: to give the people of King's Lynn and the surrounding areas the professional creative infrastructure they deserve.

The music studio was joined by a dedicated photo, video, and content creation studio, recognising that in today's world, making music is only half the journey. Getting it out there, building your brand, telling your story visually, that is where careers are made. We added a fully equipped podcast and broadcasting suite. We created a versatile arts workshop. We built a flexible events hall, the kind of space where a small charity can hold its annual celebration, where a local business can launch its next chapter, and where the community can simply come together.

And then we did something that set this project apart entirely.

We built a sensory room.

Because creativity is not only for those who find the world easy to navigate. For individuals with sensory processing needs, autism spectrum conditions, or those who simply need a safe, calm, and carefully designed space before they can engage, the world of creative arts has too often been out of reach. We were determined that KL Creatives Studios would be different. That every person, regardless of their needs, would find something here that was built with them in mind.

We did not build this alone. From the very beginning, we went out into the community and we asked for help. We engaged local people, local organisations, and local talent to help us bring these studios to life. That spirit of co-creation, of building something together rather than building something for, became the foundation of everything we stand for.

To protect that foundation, we registered as a Community Interest Company with full asset locks in place. That is a legal commitment, not just a promise. The majority of every pound generated flows back into the community, into programmes, into access, into the studios themselves. This is not a business that exists to enrich its founders. It exists to enrich King's Lynn.

The response since we opened our doors has been, frankly, extraordinary for an organisation at this stage of its journey. Local charities, small businesses, fellow CICs, self-employed creatives, musicians, podcasters, artists, and individuals seeking something they have never quite been able to find before have all walked through those doors at 4 Saunders Yard. Every one of them has reminded us why we asked that question in September 2025.

We are just getting started. But the foundation is solid, the community is with us, and the studios are open.

Our Values

What drives every decision we make:

  • Radical welcome: everyone gets a 'yes' here until there's a real reason not to

  • Lived experience first: our team, our mentors, and our model are shaped by people who've been through it

  • Creative excellence: we believe community spaces deserve professional equipment and expert guidance

  • Access for all: pricing, sensory environments, and programme design are built around removing barriers

  • Community accountability: as a CIC, our work is publicly accountable to the people of King's Lynn
